This is the technique you need to easily make emanating rays. You can make all sorts of patterns with these parameters.

• Create a new selection where you would like to draw the emanating rays. Choose Emanating Rays from the Filter menu. Adjust the parameter settings as necessary. Emanating rays can be drawn radially, from the top down, from the bottom up, from left to right, and so on. The location of the central point can also be moved.
